Department of Music
About
The department of Music (ASMIA) is a four-year bachelor program, a total of 8 semesters recognized by Nagaland University. We are dedicated to the preservation, promotion and training of Naga Indigenous Music and to train accomplished professionals in the field of Music and Arts. Over the years, many music institutes have been training young people, but none have been able to include indigenous music in the curriculum. There is immense scope and employability in the music sector apart from performances and shows.
The programme requires the students to take one discipline of applied music (performance) as Major along with General and Elective subjects. Under the guidelines of the University, the college is offering Piano, Voice, Guitar and Strings to choose as their respective major. Throughout the semester, the students are required to perform in the form of recitals (weekly) and lecture performance, twice a month. The faculty and students have had the opportunity to perform in various programs as well as host and attend performances by other artists.
